Hike a Thon

Saturday June 27, 2009

Beginning at 9:00am Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Help Calaveras Big Trees Association raise funds for the
Interpretive Programs at Calaveras Big Trees State Park in the first annual...Hike-a-Thon !!

Choose your trail: The trails at Big Trees have something to offer walkers of all skill levels.

  • The North Grove Trail is a gentle, well-marked loop about 1.5 miles long that is barrier free.
  • The 5 mile trail in the South Grove Trail passes the park's largest trees including the 250 ft. tall Agassiz Tree..
  • The 600 ft. Three Senses Trail is one of the easiest accessible trails in the State Park system, and allows visitors to experience the feel, smell and sounds of this magnificent forest.

Choose your time: Registration for the North Grove Trail & Three Senses Trail is open from 9am until 3pm and is located at the North Grove Group Picnic Area. South Grove Trail registration is open from 9am until 1pm and is located at the South Grove trailhead in the South Grove parking lot. This will give all walkers time to enjoy the beauty of Calaveras Big Trees.

The minimum pledge amount is $75 per adult walker and $10 per child walker.  Children under 6 years of age are free.  All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Walkers who raise $100 or more will receive an 18 oz. Calaveras Big Trees State Park stainless steel water bottle. A snack and bottled water also will be provided for all participants. However, packing a picnic lunch is recommended as no food is sold at the park.

The Calaveras Big Trees Association will pay the State Park admission fee of $7 per vehicle for Hike-A-Thon participants . Simply show a completed Hike-A-Thon pledge form at the entrance kiosk on the day of the event
